Job Description

About the role :- Varaha ClimateAg is seeking a highly motivated Carbon Projects to lead carbon emissions reduction and removal projects focused on Nature Based Solutions In smallholder farming countries comprising agriculture, forestry, Livestock and Mangroves. The position requires experience in leading a carbon projects team for the drafting of Project Design Documents (PDDs), technical project design, and guiding projects through the validation and verification process. The position requires excellent analytical skills, practical business thinking, and an understanding of social science methods. Prior experience development of carbon projects for Nature-based solutions is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities :-

  • Lead the implementation of carbon work across the organisation.
  • Guide the Varaha Carbon Projects team. For Agriculture, Agroforestry, Forestry and Mangrove Projects. 
  • Help the team select the best methodology and train them on nuances of audit handling of the above project categories. manage 
  • Train the team on different stages of the project cycle from validation to registration, to monitoring.
  • Develop SOPs for different project categories and project steps, specially wherever data collection and monitoring is required. 
  • Identify viable project opportunities and manage internal resources to finalise and execute projects.
  • Manage all ongoing projects documentation including monitoring plans, Project Design Documents (PDDs), and monitoring reports. 
  • Development and implementation of the processes needed for successful project development, such as public consultation process, data collection, and sampling in collaboration with the Science and Tech team. 
  • Manage due diligence, contractual negotiations, and validation, verification.
  • Understanding the methodologies available on the registries and developing projects based on that.

Qualifications

 

  • 8+ years experience leading nature-based carbon projects, including implementation and certification.
  • Knowledgeable in global standards/protocols/markets for Voluntary markets. Familiarity with carbon emissions reductions verification methodologies and standards.
  • A demonstrated knack for Project Management and Implementation in the sustainability space
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and manage successful teams.
  • History of collaboration with primary actors in the carbon sector, including implementers, technical advisors, and certification standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across a wide range of audiences.
